We’re thrilled to welcome Blake Combs as the new Athletic Director at East Jessamine High School. After 20 years in sunny Florida, Blake and his crew are trading palm trees for horse farms, flip-flops for boots, and beaches for bluegrass. They are back in Kentucky and ready to dive into life as Jaguars together as a family. Originally from Pikeville, Blake graduated from Pike Central High School in 2001 where he played baseball. He earned a degree in Sport Management from Morehead State University, which led to an internship at Roger Dean Stadium, home of the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals spring training. He learned the ins and outs of professional baseball and maybe how to dodge a few foul balls along the way. For the past 15 years, Blake has been shaping student-athletes as a PE teacher and Athletic Director in the Palm Beach County and St. Lucie County School Districts. Most recently, he spent seven years leading athletics at St. Lucie West Centennial High School, one of Florida’s largest high schools with more than 3,000 students and over 550 athletes. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Sport Administration from Arkansas State University in 2023. Blake’s biggest team, however, is at home. His wife Brandi, originally from Lexington, played soccer at Georgetown College. Together they have three kids, Harper, Bowen, and Palmer, who are already planning their first Jaguar touchdown and keeping life lively, loud, and full of love. Please join us in giving the Combs family a warm welcome to East.

Today, we’re celebrating a teacher who goes above and beyond for their students every day! Mr. Davisson is one-of-a-kind. Let's see what our Jags have to share about him.

"Shout out to Matt for always going above and beyond for his students, both in and out of the classroom! He brings a unique perspective to discussions, checks in proactively, asks thoughtful questions, and seeks feedback to make sure we’re supporting our students’ mental health as much as their academic growth. I always enjoy getting to listen to his insights!" -EJHS Colleague

"Mr. Davisson is a really great Future Problem Solving coach for our Academic Team and has structured it really well. We received 2nd place because of the advice he provided us!"

We are proud to celebrate one of our Students of the Month, Alyssa. Alyssa truly represents the Responsibility pillar of the JCS Graduate Profile. She comes to class ready to learn, stays focused on her work, and consistently gives her very best effort. Her strong work ethic and positive attitude set the tone for those around her. Alyssa understands that responsibility means showing up, staying committed, and taking ownership of her learning. She lives this out every single day. We are so proud of her and grateful for the example she sets for our school community.

🐾 Hey Jaguars! 🐾

The SAT is coming up on March 10th, and we know the pressure can feel real. If those pre-test jitters are kicking in, remember that you’ve got the tools to stay calm and crush it!
Here’s your EJHS Game Plan to beat test anxiety:
-Prep Early: Consistency is key! Don't wait until the 9th to start reviewing.
-Catch Those Z’s: Aim for 7–9 hours of sleep. A rested brain is a sharp brain.
-Breathe Through It: Feeling stuck during a section? Take a 5-second deep breath to reset.
-Flip the Script: Replace "I can't" with "I'm prepared." You’ve been working hard for this!

You’ve got this! 💙✨
